A SAVIV favorite, Shannon Sarna, is back to teach us how to bake knishes! Join us for what will be a fun and delicious evening!
Class will take place via zoom. We will send out a private zoom link to participate the day of the class.
If you would like to make the knishes during class, here is an ingredient list for you to prepare:
For the dough:
1/3 cup cold seltzer water
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp olive oil
For the filling:
1 Idaho potato, peeled and chopped
1 small onion
salt and pepper
1 Tbsp olive oil or schmaltz
1 egg, beaten for glazing
Shannon will also describe how you can play around with various fillings. Some items can include:
sweet potatoes
leftover sauteed ground beef, chicken, or turkey
CHEESE
leftover deli meat like pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, etc.
leftover cooked veggies like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.
cooked turkey bacon, bacon bits
